High Seas Heroes: Fighting back Pirates

In April 2009, Navy Seals killed three Somali pirates who had taken hostage the captain of an American merchant ship. Now, the anonymous group of heroes - the ships crew - is the subject of HIGH SEAS HEROES: FIGHTING BACK PIRATES, premiering August 16 at 8 PM, only on TLC.

The one-hour documentary shares the untold story of how the unarmed crew of the Maersk Alabama waged a desperate battle to outwit pirates, kept control of their ship, and saved their captain, all while their own desperate families waited frantically for word of their fates. Mixing first person interviews with Captain Richard Phillips, Chief Engineer Mike Perry, and other crew members – along with some of their family – with re-enactments, viewers will be transported into their dramatic experience.
